The 9th European Conference on Liquid Crystals was held in July 2- 6, 2007 in Lisbon, Portugal.

This conference covered all major topics in Liquid Crystals Science and Technology, as well as related topics in Biology and Soft Materials.

In spite of the European character of the ECLC, there was no restriction on the attendance of delegates from all over the world.

Young scientists were strongly encouraged to participate.

The ECLC 2007 was organized under the auspices or sponsorship of the International Committee for the ECLC's and a number of institutions including the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation (FCG), the Portuguese Government Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT) and The New University of Lisbon College of Sciences and Technology (FCT-UNL).
